Calling All Smart People!
I've been sick for the last two days. I'm talking SICK. I went to a doctor who immediately said that I have a sinus infection. I came home and looked at the symptoms of a sinus infection and I have MORE symptoms than just those listed.
Here are my symptoms:
Sore Throat
Running Nose
Sneezing
Body Aches-back, arms, legs
Sore jaws and teeth
Inside of Ears Hurt
Mild Nausea
Loss of Appetite
And here is the kicker...NO FEVER!! So, I don't think it's a cold or the flu. What is wrong with me? Anyone ever had these symptoms at the same time? Calling all smart people! Please tell me what is wrong with me! I'm miserable!

Well, I'm a Physician Assistant who works in infectious disease and it does sound like you have a severe sinus infection, and it may actually be a combination of a virus and allergies. Antibiotics aren't likely to help a whole lot, but a good decongestant like Zyrtec-D and some good rest will likely help. Also maybe a good cough suppressant with maybe some codeine to help you rest for a few days. And you don't have to have a fever necessarily...especially if a large component is allergies. If you have any further questions, feel free to shoot me an email at stalbott_pa@hotmail.com
Yeah, I'd say allergies are definitely playing a part in this.
Have you been bitten by a radioactive spider, though? How are your wall-crawling skills? Have they suspiciously improved tenfold in the past day or so?
I hate to state the obvious Nikki, but from my medical expertise, it sounds like you are ill. Most likely what one of these other people has said is correct. I'd suggest just walking it off, but I doubt that would work.
Have you ever been tested for mono? That almost always comes with a sore throat, but everything else hurts too. It's pretty common in school populations, especially if you ever share drinks with people or let them use your spoon or anything like that.
Nik,
I always get sinus infections and my doc always gives me Guifen (brand name, Liquibid) as a decongestant and a Z-pack or some other anti-biotic, they work wonders, that is what you need.
Speaking of school clinics, when I was in college they would NEVER give me a perscription for anything, it drove me crazy!!
I found your site through True Pravada the other day and have enjoyed it very much.
Nikki, get well!
I had some of those symptoms when I got allergies pretty bad a couple years ago. Avelox worked pretty good for it. I think moving out of that old building in Old Louisville where I used to live did more than anything else. Just getting fresh air helps too... unless you also have outdoor allergies... then maybe you'd have to go live in a cave somewhere until winter :)
Everybody's wrong! IT's CLEAR that you have a rare and deadly disease. Go take 2 teaspoons of vitamita benjamina and say 3 hailmarys and it should clear up by 8 am. Be careful not to eat anything purple though.
Sorry about this misfortune.
Vitamita benjamina? Did you mean Vitameatavegamin from "I Love Lucy"?
It is severe allergy seaosn and you're in the allergy capital of the world (this isn't Texas).
Take over-the-counter Claritin and drink lots and lots of fluids.
And, no offense, don't come by to meet Asa until you're not sick! But when you're better, come on by
Do yall have molds in the apartment? If so get someone to clean with a good mold-removing cleaner.
Vitameata... Vinameenja ... WHATEVER I was only like 4 when I saw it :) And yes, I was talking about I love Lucy...
For the longest time I thought that "stop in the name of love" song was saying "stop in the neighborhood" and "cool jerk" was saying "pool jump" Forgive me already.
I don't know what it is but you should definetly take your medicine b/c I don't want to get it.
Nikki, I think we just went on a bad day. I still have a wicked earache - it's keeping me up at night!! - and the nice man just said it was allergies?!! Maybe they're just a little "conservative" with the good meds? Hope you feel better soon!
Haha... the Vita-meata-vege-min debate brought a little joy into my day... my parents called vitamins "Veta-vita-vega-lins" from as long as I could remember, but I never got the joke until I saw that I Love Lucy episode... Because, if you'll recall, Vita-meata-vege-min was mostly alcohol.
I know that inner-ear infections have been going around a lot lately. If you are having any kind of balance issues or dizziness with your earaches, then that could be a possibility. I come from a town known for its poor air quality too and so I keep the sniffles, but I don't think pains like you described are normal with allergies. Allergies do not cause nausea either unless you ate something that would cause a violent reaction. However, slight dizziness can cause nausea.
